There's Glitter in Your Hair

I was stopped the other day by street style blogger Mark of "There's Glitter in Your Hair". Check out his blog which he's reprised after a short hiatus and which has started to gain deserved traction.

The Style Snip

The Style Snip has rapidly become my favourite street style blog; not least for its unstudied cross-section of unusual fashion subjects from Tokyo, New York, London and Paris. This image entitled 'On the Street in Soho, New York' would not have been out of place in Dublin this 'summer'. Cue internal monologue: "Do I bring an umbrella?"; "Do I wear a bikini top?"; "Perhaps I should bring a coat just in case..." Inspired.

COS It's a Snip at €89

Ohhhh behold the glory that is COS. Trust our Swedish fashion friends to turn out a Lanvin-inspired guna for the more streamlined of bank accounts. Although Alber Elbaz gets our fantasy frock vote, this asymmetric drape dress with drop shoulder steals our hearts at a mere €89. Nice one.

Happy Birthday - Heaven Hair & Beauty!

I'm jetting off to sunnier climes for a while but before doing so, I'd like to extend a Happy 3rd Birthday to my local salon:  Heaven Hair & Beauty, Kimmage. I've been popping into Donna and the gang regularly for my beauty MOT - wax, tan, nails, hair colour and have always been impressed at their competitive prices and amazing service. Speaking of which, I just got my debut Wow Brown! pre-holiday spray tan done today and I'm so impressed. No biscuit smell, no orange hue, no tell-tale signs, nada; just a lovely deep glow. What's more, it's organic which is a boon for sensitive skin like mine. The salonn do regular offers, so give them a buzz and see what deals are new for the summer.

Street Art - A Walking Tour of Dublin

I hadn't realised how many snaps I collected of Dublin street art over the past few months. On observation they range from poetic to esoterick and in some cases, sardonic. Given how they infinitely cheer up our summer-deprived streets, I thought it fitting to give you all a tour of Dublin by way of our graffiti gravitas.

We start at North Wall Quay - walk along the Liffey and breathe in the poetry.
Cross over to City Quay...
for an oblique reference to either Irish cuisine or state penitentiaries.
Turn left onto Lombard Street East. "What you talkin' about Willis?"
Toddle over to South William Street to find Maser's Angel looking over you.
He loves you our Maser.
Cross over to Sth Great George's Street if you require further confirmation.
Although if you scoot through Golden Lane over to the Liberties' Carmen Hall, they're not too sure.
In fact, it's probably best to beetle up towards Francis Street..
...for an impromptu weather report.
Once you hit The Coombe - Maser strikes again.
You must be hungry. Why not cut back to Aungier Street for an all-day breakfast?
Or over to Sth Richmond Street for a sneaky pint at The Shaw?
Too early for a jar?
Oh, I see. No pressure. Hope you enjoyed your tour! :)

London College of Fashion @ New Look

Slurp! Look what's arrived at New Look: 6 brand new spanking shoe styles from the London College of Fashion Master's Collection. Just pop into the Jervis Street Centre where you can get your hands on said foot candy from just €44.99. My personal favourites are these two wedges by student Ruth Jones. Keep an eye on her. My guess is her name will be joining the school's illustrious alumni list which also includes cult cobblers Jimmy Choo, Patrick Cox and Emma Hope.

Wall & Keogh

This weekend, my friend Karina and I popped into one of my favourite cafes Wall & Keogh. Located on Dublin South Richmond Street (just across from the George Bernard Shaw), this organic tea room isn't just a repository for Rooibos,Camomile and Earl Grey blends; it also has a surprising fashion element. Sit inside at one of the four tables which bear the likeness of famous faces such as Jackie O and Twiggy; or take a pot of Irish Cream and Liver Replenisher as we did (one of us went out the previous night; the other didn't) and relax on an old bedframe strewn with cowhide pillows while listening to some chill out tunes. Oh, and they also sell sushi! This place is very new and under the radar at the moment, but something tells me the latter is set to change.

Grab a 'scald' @ 45 Sth Richmond St, Portobello, D2. Tel: 01 475 9052 or LIKE them on Facebook.

P.S. This is I Blog Fashion's 800th post. Let's drink a cuppa to that!

Joanne Hynes / Helen Steele AW/11 - Les Guerriers

The Joanne Hynes / Helen Steele collaborative label launched this season at London Fashion Week with its inaugural AW/11 collection entitled 'Les Guerriers'.  Drawing inspiration from the West of Ireland, pirate queen Grainne Ni Mhuiel (Grace O’Malley) and Steele's frenetic paintings, the result is a celebration of bravery; celebrating the empowerment of art fashion. It's been an enormous honour to style this collection and to interpret the vision of two inspiring and fearless women. Enjoy the show shots below - all by photographer Brian O'Sullivan.
